The youngest member of our family is a keen cyclist, like his parents, and he desperately wanted a dropped handle bar bike, like his parents.  Being just seven years old, it is very difficult finding a suitable dropped handlebar cycle for him.  Despite a hard thorough search, the best we have found is most suitable for children a year or so older.  This list summarises the models we have found, and hopefully will help others in knowing for what to search.  All have 24" wheels unless stated otherwise.  All photos are catalogue photos from the 'web unless stated otherwise, and all are reduced file size to aid loading.  This is a somewhat specialist market, and all bikes on this page look to my eyes to be very well designed and made.  All should suit the serious junior cyclist.

Colnago does (or did) a junior racer, with 21" wheels.  Unfortunately I do not know the model name.  This photo comes from the Southdown Velo website.  At the time of writing this bike is for sale: see Southdown Velo's web site for details.

We settled on the Felt F24.  This does not have mounting points for mudguards or carrier rack (it is designed as a racer rather than tourer), but has some superb components and was available at the right time at the right price.
